Director, Institute for Biostatistics and Informatics in Medicine and Ageing Research bei Universität Rostock.
A researcher at the University of Rostock, has been actively involved in aging research. Some of his latest work focuses on identifying biomarkers of aging and developing personalized approaches to the medicine of aging.
Fuellen’s research interests include systems biology and bioinformatics in aging research. He has collaborated on studies that rank biomarkers of aging by citation profiling and effort scoring. These biomarkers include physical and cognitive function, anthropometric measurements, DNA damage, mitochondrial dysfunction, reactive oxygen species (ROS), autophagy, and proteins like growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF15), TGF-β, and GDF11.
Fuellen is also involved in the DFG’s “GeroPlan: Perspectives for interdisciplinary ageing research” initiative, which aims to support young researchers working on how people age and how this affects their bodies, minds and social lives.
